Municipal Hail is a leading provider of crop hail insurance. Armed with a network of over 300 agents and 100 field staff we provide crop hail and fire protection to over 22,000 policy holders and annually assess over 5,000 claims.

Our mandate is to provide crop hail and fire insurance coverage at cost with timely loss assessments. We lead our industry in using technology designed and built-in house to provide the highest level of customer service.

Reporting directly to the CEO we are looking for a highly motivated, determined individual to lead our claims department.

As the leader of our claims department, you will be required to build a team that will provide timely and accurate loss adjustments. You will be responsible for recruiting and training all field staff, maintaining manuals and working with NCIS on loss adjustment procedures.

We have digitized our field adjustments and you will be required to lead the maintenance and software acceptance testing of these applications.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, on-demand environment.  You will be required to work with other office staff to provide support to our network of agents, adjusters, and customers across the Prairie Provinces. You must be willing and able to travel and spend time away from home as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education
  • An Agriculture/Agronomy background would be an asset
  • Strong analysis and communication skills
  • Management, IT or HR experience would be an asset
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • A client first attitude

Municipal Hail is the leading provider of crop hail insurance on the prairies. Armed with a network of over 300 agents and 100 field staff, we provide crop hail and fire protection to over 22,000 policy holders and annually assess over 5,000 claims. In 2022, we provided $3.77 billion dollars of coverage.

Our mandate is to provide crop hail and fire insurance coverage at cost with timely loss assessments. We lead our industry in using technology designed and built in-house to provide the highest level of customer service.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, determined individual to lead our IT development and oversee the day-to-day functions of the department.

As our Technical Product Manager, you will be required to maintain all internal IT systems, provide change management controls, and write and maintain user and system control manuals. You will need to understand and write business requirements, manage changes, remove roadblocks, and communicate with multiple stakeholders. As the technical lead, you will also work with our various vendors that provide IT services and support to our Association.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, on-demand environment. You will be required to work with other office staff to provide support to our network of agents, adjusters, and customers across the Prairie Provinces. You must be willing and able to travel and spend time away from home as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Analytical and have strong communication and listening skills
  • Experience with SQL and/or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with the System Development Life Cycle
  • A great personality, a desire to succeed and knowledge of the Ag industry would be an asset

Responsibilities may include and not limited to:

  • Design, build and maintain enterprise .NET PC and web based applications
  • Collaborate and supervise vendors in application development and maintenance
  • Work with network providers to ensure efficient and secure operation of all systems
  • Perform IT audits to discover areas of weakness
  • Maintain standards, technologies and methodologies
  • Monitor vendors performance and provide the necessary advice and guidance
  • Risk assessment and risk management
  • Keep up with standards, technologies and methodologies
  • Documentation management of all systems
  • Provide support to staff and users of our IT Systems
  • Provide solutions to complex business IT challenges
  • Ensure that the company’s data and information are protected from unauthorized users
  • Review assignments for accuracy and quality
